founder
Efoil Mauritius was born from a deep passion for the sea and new nautical technologies. Its founder, Pierre, 32, grew up on the water.
At just two years old, he crossed the Atlantic on a sailing boat with his parents. After more than ten years in the Caribbean, he moved to Bordeaux, where he pursued his passion for water sports and innovation.
In 2023, he discovered Mauritius and fell under the spell of its lagoons. Two years later, he founded Efoil Mauritius, dedicated to promoting, selling and trialling eFoils from the French brand PWR.

Import and customs: what it actually changes
An eFoil carries a high-capacity lithium battery. Both in transport and on entry into Mauritius, this type of battery is classified as dangerous goods and is tightly regulated: a mandated shipping method, technical documentation to provide, clearances to obtain before the gear even leaves. A private buyer ordering from abroad usually discovers all of this once the order is paid for, and has to put the file together alone, with no contact on the ground and no track record with the services involved.
That is where the timeline blows out. Between assembling the file, the back-and-forth with the administration, waiting on clearances and getting through customs, it easily takes three times longer than going through us: several months, during which the gear sits idle and sometimes in storage at your expense. We import regularly, our channels are well established and our files are already familiar to the services involved. Same journey, covered far faster.
The budget gap is just as clear. The price shown on a European site includes that country's VAT, charged as soon as you order. On arrival in Mauritius you then add dangerous-goods shipping, customs duty and Mauritian VAT calculated on the declared value, often with storage and handling fees on top. Our import costs are under control because we repeat them: the price we quote is the final price, known before you commit.

An absolutely insane experience! I didn't even know it was possible to feel that: flying silently above the water is a completely unique sensation. E-foiling is really something else: you get the hang of it in 30-40 minutes, and after that it's pure freedom. Nothing compares to anything I'd done on the water before. Pierre is top-notch, a great teacher, and you can tell he genuinely loves what he does. Great equipment, safety well handled, and a relaxed yet professional vibe. If you're still hesitating, don't. It's an activity to do at least once in your life. I'll be back as soon as I can!
Honestly, it was amazing! The feeling of gliding above the water is unique, you get a huge thrill from the very first minutes. A big thank you to Pierre, the instructor. It was an amazing unbelievable life experience, it is just adrenaline pumping everywhere in my body. Pierre is an amazing coach and he was very professional and helpful in my session, after the 1st session I got about 3 sessions more and I spent about 4-5 hours training on different days, and every day I learned something new. Even as I got better with skills and balancing, he still gives me tips and tricks to make me better and better. I will highly recommend everyone in Mauritius to come join this experience and enjoy the time here.
Total beginner at watersports, but Pierre is a great teacher, always attentive and right there with us throughout the session. You progress at an incredible pace! In the end we stayed on the water for over an hour without ever feeling like we were being timed. The vibe was great, we had a genuinely good laugh from start to finish. An exceptional activity that I recommend 100%. I think I'm going to buy one for Christmas!
